Tree Ornament made with Bloodwood. Christmas Tree OrnamentsI wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it. Though not chrome, shiny or lighted, these ornaments show up exceptionally well on your tree, day or night. They add a touch of class and we feel bring the meaning of Christmas back to 'natural' things. When made from Bethlehem Olivewood, it seems to have a natural place on the tree or from any hanging surface at Christmas time. BLOODWOOD (Brosimum paraense) This distinctive deep red colored wood is found in Central and Latin America primarily in the countries of Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana and Suriname. Bloodwood is also known as Satine, Amapa rana, Satinwood, Satinholz, Ferolia and Legno satino. The tree is of medium height with trunk diameters that average about 18 inches. Bloodwood is very resistant to insects and is a favorite with the crafter because it polishes nicely. However it is extremely hard and is rather difficult to machine without carbide tipped cutting tools. |
