Tree Ornament made with Olivewood. Christmas Tree OrnamentsI wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it. Though not chrome, shiny or lighted, these ornaments show up exceptionally well on your tree, day or night. They add a touch of class and we feel bring the meaning of Christmas back to 'natural' things. When made from Bethlehem Olivewood, it seems to have a natural place on the tree or from any hanging surface at Christmas time. AFRICAN OLIVEWOOD (Oleaceae) Found in the Montane rain forests at elevations of 6,000 to 9,000 ft; common in Kenya and parts of Zaire but less frequent in Uganda and Tanzania. The tree may reach a height of 80 to 100 ft, but is often smaller; bole rarely straight, heavily fluted, about 15 to 30 ft in length; trunk diameters 2 to 3 ft. The heartwood is pale brown with irregular dark gray-brown streaks; sapwood up to 2 in. wide, pale yellow, clearly demarcated. The texture is fine and even; grain straight or shallowly interlocked, figured. Surface is slightly oily. |
